Lichen, Moss and Algae
Pictured above is a roof heavily coated with lichen, moss and algae. Lichen is the greenish grey incrustations you see. They are 1-2 millimeters thick and come in varying widths. They are the most damaging form of roof growth we experience. Roof moss are the small green leafy clumps. The have a small root system and are often found along the edges of shingles. This is because they require soft mater to embed their roots into. This growth holds a lot of moisture. It will slowly lead to a rotting of the shingle, and thus should be removed. Algae is a single cellular growth. It is the black staining you see above. This growth causes a lot of visual damage to a roof. Once the above roof is cleaned, all growth matter is removed and the shingles look like new. Please view our see for yourself page for many before and after pictures. Roof cleaning is what we do. We take great pride in our work. Please give us a chance to look at your roof needs.

The home above was completely cleaned and we applied a liquid preventative called Preventacide. Preventative is applied to all roofs we clean.
